We stood on the rocks, and I held her as we faced the dark sea. The cool ocean breeze stroked our hair, stars flickered white above us while ships’ lights shone orange on the horizon.

I stood there, aware of the vertigo I feel whenever I stand on footing like this, with no solid ground in view – as if I was floating on air and about to tumble anytime, and I held her closer to steady myself.

And I thought; isn’t life like this? That as we face the great unknown, with nothing but the hopes we have shining in the horizon to tell us to keep going, the only things concrete are the present moment we stand on, and the people we hold dearest to us.

Use Tools You Love

It can be really satisfying to use a favorite pen to write on your favorite paper.

The more you use tools you love, the more you’ll love doing your work.

A critic says; “you suck, this is why, and this is how you can do it better.”

A hater says; “you suck, I rule.”

Self-esteem comes from thinking better of yourself.

Self-respect comes from making yourself do difficult things.
